Leshten village

Leshten is in southwestern Bulgaria about 15 km from the town of Gotse Delchev. First of all, I want to say that the village is in colorful Western Rhodopes and fully it preserves the Renaissance style of architecture. The houses are with stone roofs and mud walls. The streets are narrow and with cobblestone and they carry the spirit of our glorious past.

Leshten offers beautiful panoramic views of the Pirin Mountain and the valley of the Mesta River. There are already more than 10 restored houses and some of them offer accommodation. In the village you can use some attractions such as mountain walking, picking herbs and mushrooms or walk to neighboring beautiful places.

At Leshten is an atypical house – the clay house. It is from natural materials – clay, straw, and wood. Its unusual appearance is accompanied by her odd interior design. The sofa in the house of clay, as well as a TV stand. It looks very comfortable inside and is somehow very nice. The tourists can rent the clay house.

It is very tidy and well kept its revival. In 18-19 century Kovachevica was an educational center. Back in 1977, Kovachevica became was declared a historical and architectural reserve. While you are walking there you can smell the history and the spirit of it.

In addition, I want to say that currently, Leshten has 10 permanent inhabitants and Kovachevica around 30. Gradually these beautiful secluded spots are being depopulated.
